April 2025: technical-economic training courses for farms in Kinshasa (DRC) and Brazzaville (RC)

Three AVe experts run two technical-economic training sessions on livestock management

Denis, specialized in business management, Bernard, specialized in pig breeding, and Alain, specialized in poultry breeding, led two training sessions, one in Kinshasa, the other in Brazzaville for pig and poultry breeders. The training program alternated between sessions on production techniques and livestock management. These sessions were organized by the “Génération Verte 21” association.

Course of training

The participants were very heterogeneous, especially in Kinshasa, and more professional in Brazzaville: most were members of “agro-pastoral” groups with plans to set up livestock farms in addition to market gardening.) The limited number of participants meant that the AVE facilitators had to co-lead mainly in pig and poultry production. The relationship with both groups was very positive, with participants being very responsive and interested. The organization was optimal in Kinshasa, with excellent material conditions, and more “floating” in Brazzaville.

Summary of the two 3-day technical-economic training sessions

The AVe experts had to adapt constantly and often improvise, alternating sessions in sub-groups and with the whole group, on both sites. Technical training as a duo, management training sometimes alone and often as a trio, complementing each other. The “trio” worked particularly well.

Very positive feedback from participants

Here are a few comments from participants:

"Before this course, breeding was a hobby. Today, I can see how to turn it into a successful, sustainable business. My vision has completely changed!"

"Thanks to the biosecurity techniques I've learned, my animals will be healthier and my losses will decrease. A real revolution for my farm."
"The advice on feeding and reproduction will enable me to increase my production and profitability. I finally have the tools to develop my business."
"I thought I knew everything about breeding, but this training course has opened my eyes to modern practices that are more respectful of animal welfare. Indispensable!"
"The quality of the trainers and the concrete examples adapted to our local reality made learning easy and directly applicable.
An investment worth its weight in gold". They must come back

Strong points highlighted by the organizers:

The association Génération Verte 21, which organized these training sessions, listed several strong points:

  1. The relevance of the training theme.
  2. The enthusiasm and satisfaction of the participants.
  3. The quality of the materials provided by the experts.
  4. The proven competence of the experts involved.
  5. The creation of a WhatsApp group for the exchange of best practices after the training
