Beginning of the mission in September 2022, first trip to Senegal in October with Mother Marie José, Mother Superior of the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Thomas de Villeneuve; visit to the land on which the project is to be built; drawing up of plans for two buildings, a dispensary and a maternity hospital, each measuring 1000 m2, with the participation of Sister Marie Gisèle, head of the Djilas community.
Drafting of the specifications, taking into account the adjustments and modifications made by the sisters, which enabled the contractor, Mr. Diatta, to put a figure on the project; after checking the estimate and the usual negotiations, preparation of the works contract; trip to Senegal for the signing of the contract in December.
Early January 2023 : start of foundation work ; trip to Senegal in February, then in May to check on progress, start of maternity ward elevations.
Back in Senegal at the beginning of October, the elevations of the two buildings are nearing completion, then in February 2024 I see that the dispensary's framework is being erected, the plasterwork on the facades is complete, and the electricians have begun their incorporation work.
In October, we visited the two buildings to take delivery. A few minor reservations were noted, which the contractor promised to resolve before the inauguration. The facility has been in operation since early September.
Saturday November 30, 2024, inauguration of the dispensary and maternity unit (some forty births have already taken place) in the presence of VIPs and an impressive number of villagers.

The entire staff (a midwife, three nurses, a laboratory technician and three care assistants) is now up and running in a pleasant, functional setting, which, as the region's sub-prefect emphasized at the inauguration, is an example for the country.
